Dick Baker

Dick BakerFrom the time he was selected "Freshman Athlete of the Year" in 1961, his Blue Devil teammates knew Richard Baker would distinguish himself in athletics at Stout. Through personal determination, he overcame a career-threatening knee injury to captain the football team and earn all-conference honors in his junior and senior years. Since leaving Stout, he has earned statewide recognition as a top high school wrestling coach and as an assistant football coach in Michigan.

 

Mary Cave Jarvis

Mary Cave JarvisWhen searching the record books for individuals who helped shape women's athletics in the formative years at Stout, the name of Mary Cave Jarvis leaps from the pages. At a time when opportunities were severely limited for women athletes, she displayed skills in volleyball and basketball that led her coaches and teammates to select her for most valuable player honors in both sports. As a high school coach, she began the women's basketball program at Wausau.

 

Garry Novak

Garry NovakThis four-year letter winner captained the swimming squad during the 1974 and 1975 seasons. A national qualifier in each of his four years at Stout, he won All-America honors twice in the relay and 100-year freestyle events. He won the conference freestyle championships in 1975, an accomplishment he lists among his biggest thrills.

 

Terry Watkins

Terry WatkinsOne of the real building blocks of Blue Devil hockey. A member of the first intercollegiate squad in 1969, his outstanding contributions to the program continue to this day. His leadership skills were recognized immediately. He was selected most valuable skater in 1969-70, and he captained the squad for three seasons. His 95 points rank this hard-skating defenseman second in all-time career scoring. He also leads in career assists with 54.
