Greg Osowski
Greg Osowski listed his greatest thrill in sports at UW-Stout as starting at center field and hitting leading as a freshman. Osowski had many other thrills for the Blue Devils over his four-year career as UW-Stout began to move through one of the most successful eras in Blue Devil baseball.
Osowski played both in the outfield and the infield for the Blue Devils and three times earned all-conference and all-region honors. As a sophomore in 1985,Osowski was the team's most valuable player and it was the first of three consecutive all-conference/all-district 14 combinations.
During the 1987 season, Osowski's senior year, the Blue Devils won the NAIA District 14 championship and advanced to Area IV play, finishing second. Upon graduation in 1987, Osowski finished in the top 10 of eight career statistical categories. He is currently tied for first in most runs scored (139) and was first in bases on balls (80, now 3rd). He was second in at-bats (495, 5th), hits (156, 11th) and runs batted in (103, 10th), third in doubles (25, 20th), fourth in home runs (17, 18th) and eighth in batting average (.343, 25th). Since leaving Stout with a degree in manufacturing engineering, Osowski, a La Crosse native, has taught technology education in high schools in Arizona. He taught at Cibola High School from 1991-2007 where he received the outstanding first year teacher award. In 2007, Osowski switched within the Yuma, Ariz., school district to Gila Ridge High School, a first year school, where he became the chair for the Career Technology Education department.
At Gila Ridge, Osowski is the head varsity baseball coach. While at Cibola, he was the junior varsity baseball coach and the assistant varsity baseball coach. Osowski and his wife, Beth, reside in Yuma, Ariz, with their children Sam and Allison.
