William Kieffer

William KiefferEarned a total of nine letters at Stout. In football, a four-year starter at halfback and an all-conference defensive back his senior year. Most valuable basketball player in 1952 and 1953. Was player/coach of the 1952 Blue Devil baseball squad. In 25 years as baseball coach at Lake City (Minnesota) High School, his teams have compiled a 189-49-2 record and have collected 11 conference and eight district titles.

 

Sam DeMerit

Sam DeMeritCaptain of the baseball team and letterman in football and basketball in 1917. One of Wisconsin's most successful high school track coaches. Coached five state championship teams at Port Washington High School. Coached a state Class B basketball championship team in 1937. Was also football coach and athletic director before retiring in 1962 to become the city's first full-time recreation director.

 

John Lorenz

John LorenzA four-year letterman in both gymnastics and football between 1963 and 1967. A member of the 1966 conference championship team and an all-conference linebacker. Was a member of the first Stout gymnastics squad. Placed 12th in trampoline at the 1965 NAIA championships. High school gymnastics coaching record at Niles Township (Illinois) for seven seasons was 124-4 including six conference titles.

 

James Ooley

James OoleyA four-year football letterman in the offensive line between 1946 and 1949. Began his coaching career as a Stout assistant in 1950. Now an extremely successful Michigan high school football coach at Traverse City. His teams have compiled an impressive record. Instrumental in organizing the Michigan High School Football Coaches Association. Inducted into the Michigan High School Coaches Hall of Fame in 1982.
