UW-Stout
Title III Project Goals

Awarded in October 2004, the Title III Grant is providing the University of Wisconsin -Stout the opportunity to investigate new methods and programs to improve student retention, graduation rates, and assessment of student learning outcomes. The goals of the five year grant include:

1. Improving retention and graduation rates through student services and faculty development. Through career exploration workshops for new students, a suite of on-line academic and career advising tools for all students, and extensive faculty development in advisement and student engagement, UW-Stout can retain a greater percentage of students who begin their college experience at UW-Stout, thereby increasing the number of graduates.

2. Establishing and implementing a system for assessment of student learning outcomes. Through the implementation of electronic portfolios in each undergraduate program and the deployment of course embedded assessment processes, UW-Stout will implement an assessment system that will allow the institution to make valid curricular decisions and systematically improve the teaching and learning process.
