Established in 1982, the Distinguished Service Athletic Award recognizes individuals who:
- have made significant contributions to UW-Stout athletics in roles other than participation in a sport(s) or administration to the program.
- through long-term contributions of time and energy (and/or in some cases, financial support) have helped UW-Stout provide quality athletic experiences to its student athletes, students, faculty and the Menomonie community.
- through concerns and understanding have encouraged student athletes to complete their degrees at UW-Stout.
- have modeled sportsmanship and dedication and have encouraged and inspired similar traits in others.
