A UW-Stout Master of Science program in vocational rehabilitation has been ranked among the top 10 graduate rehabilitation counseling programs in the U.S., according to the U.S. News & World Report 2011 edition of Americaís Best Graduate Schools.

UW-Stoutís program shares a four-way tie for ninth with Illinois Institute of Technology, San Diego State and Utah State University. UW-Stout is the only nondoctoral granting institution in the top 10 for rehabilitation counseling programs.

UW-Madison is ranked No. 1.

ďWe are honored that our peers across the nation continue to recognize the excellence in professional training that emerges from our graduate rehabilitation counseling program,Ē said Professor Michelle Hamilton, program director.

Rehabilitation counseling is one of three concentrations within the M.S. degree in vocational rehabilitation. The accredited program started in 1968. Students can earn the degree on campus in two years or online in three years.

The Graduate School at UW-Stout, which offers 18 programs, is celebrating its 75th year.

UW-Stout also offers a bachelorís degree program in vocational rehabilitation, with 10 concentrations.

In addition, UW-Stout operates the Stout Vocational Rehabilitation Institute, a teaching facility that provides research, training and clinical services for people with disabilities.
