Submitting Grades

Here are a few common problems encountered during grading:

  1. I am having trouble submitting my grades.

  2. A name is missing from my Grade Roster.

    If a name is missing, the student may be registered for another section or did not follow-up with an add card.  The system will not allow you to add students to your roster.
  3. A student on my roster never attended.

    If a student registered for your class, never attended but neglected to drop you must assign the “FN” grade.  The FN does calculate negatively on a student’s GPA the same as a F grade: http://www3.uwstout.edu/regrec/gradingsystem.cfm
  4. A student on my roster quit attending.

    If a student quit attending class without officially dropping your class, a grade of “FS” should be assigned.  If a FS grade is assigned, this signifies that the student did attend and shortly after grading our office will follow-up with you to learn of the student’s last date of attendance.  The FS grade also calculates negatively on a student’s GPA: http://www3.uwstout.edu/regrec/gradingsystem.cfm
  5. Watch your Email After Processing Grades

    As grades are processed on the system, we will monitor for improper or missing grades.  If we find problems we will attempt to contact you through email or phone. Incomplete Grades

Please take note of the Incomplete Grade policy when assigning “I” grades:   http://www.uwstout.edu/regrec/gradingsystem.cfm#incomplete An “Agreement for Completion of Incomplete Grade Form” must be submitted for all “I” grades entered into Access Stout.  This form can be found at http://www.uwstout.edu/regrec/upload/New_Incomplete_Form.pdf.  The completed and signed copy of this form should be emailed to Registration and Records as soon as possible after the end of a course. 

Grade change/online process

If you make a mistake submitting a grade and need to change the grade after it has posted (each morning at 6 a.m.), you can now make the grade change on the grade roster in your faculty center.  You can also change Incomplete grades to a final grade online as long as it's within one year.  Outstanding In-Progress grades that need to be changed to a final grade and are outside the one year timeframe will still need to be submitted via a paper grade change card to our office processing.  Please follow these easy step-by-step instructions from our website here:   http://www.uwstout.edu/regrec/upload/FacultyGradeChange.pdf
