Heritage Hall is the new name for the former Home Economics Building.
“We needed to update the name of the building while preserving the link it provides to the rich history of UW-Stout,” Chancellor Charles W. Sorensen said.
Home economics, by name, no longer is offered at UW-Stout but has evolved into other majors and programs, such as Bachelor of Science degrees in family and consumer sciences education, dietetics, food systems and technology, and human development and family studies.
The building name also was changed to reflect the breadth of academic disciplines taught in Heritage Hall. Three of UW-Stout’s four colleges have classes in the hall, although it is used mainly by the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences.
