CAMPUS WIDE SMOKING BAN TAKES EFFECT SEPT. 1

Smoking will be banned everywhere on the UW-Stout campus beginning Sept. 1, 2010.

UW-Stout students overwhelmingly supported a campus smoking ban through a referendum in spring 2009. Chancellor Sorensen then considered that vote result, along with advice of others on campus, before deciding that a ban would be in the best interest of the university and its students, faculty and staff.

The chancellor has established a committee to address the issues resulting from a campus wide ban. The committee is chaired by Doug Mell, director of University Communications, and includes representatives from all campus divisions and the three shared governance groups.
