UW-Stout will mark Saturday, Oct. 22, as Military Appreciation Day when the Blue Devil football team meets UW-La Crosse at 6 p.m. at Don and Nona Williams Stadium.
Activities for military personnel, past and present, will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the tailgate area of the stadium with games, entertainment and food.
Military members will be recognized during the game and at halftime. The UW-Stout ROTC program will present a color guard before the game. About 50 ROTC cadets will be involved in the day’s activities.
“This event will bring a lot of groups together — Reserves, National Guard, veterans and those who are training to be in the military — to recognize the importance of our service members and help us reach out to the community,” said Lt. Col. Brian Stout, chair of UW-Stout’s military science department.
Military personnel will be admitted free to the game if in uniform or with a military ID. A military dependent ID also will be accepted for free admission.
Military Appreciation Day is being sponsored by the Wisconsin National Guard, the UW-Stout ROTC program and UW-Stout athletics. The UW-Stout Veterans Club also is assisting.
