On Sunday, July 10, 2005, week 1 of STEPS began. About 40 girls were registered. They were strangers to each other, coming from close states, like Minnesota, and from all over Wisconsin. Two campers even arrived from south-western Ohio! Each girl was assigned a team; Red, Yellow, Green and Blue. Each team had a counselor, and a junior assistant. The teams then  met to go to Orientation, where they were briefed on their activities of the week.

After Orientation and a picnic, the campers went to the ropes course. They played some games to learn about problem-solving and teamwork. After games, the teams separated and moved to the main event: the Alpine Tower and Tower Swing. The girls learned different techniques of climbing and the names of the equipment. They had a blast!
After a snack, the girls settled into their new dorm rooms and became acquainted with their room mates.

Monday dawned bright and early. Breakfast was at 7:00, so the girls had to get in gear.
