From spiritual organizations, to political groups, to special interest groups that let you share a passion or hobby, the opportunities are endless. It’s a great way to gain leadership skills, improve your resume and meet other like-minded individuals.
Leaders aren’t born, they’re built. Develop your skills and participate in a leadership program, be an active leader within your residence hall or advocate for issues affecting all Stout students.
Giving back to the community is important and Stout has many ways to help you make a difference. Check out various volunteer opportunities. Volunteer by yourself or start a volunteer team, connect with a student organization or take part through one of your courses for credit. All of these options provide significant learning experiences for students through meaningful service activities that benefit the community.
There are numerous organizations that will enhance your academic experience. Getting more involved within your academic area often leads to better relationships with classmates and faculty, invaluable networking opportunities and a wider perspective of issues and trends related to your major.

The Qube, Stout’s resource center for LGBTQIA+ students and allies, offers social and educational programming for LGBTQIA+ students and their allies. Participate in the peer mentor program, discussion and support groups, or safe space training, join GSA (Stout’s official LGBTQIA+ student org), or simply connect with other students at the Qube.
Explore organizations that are dedicated to supporting and learning about those who have served our country. UW-Stout has individuals that are veterans, know service members and those who are just interested in learning more. Become an active part of the Military and Veterans community to make connections within the university and local community.
On-campus jobs are a great way to build your professional skills, meet other students and find your home on campus. Not only do on-campus jobs provide convenient hours that work with your class schedule, but our student employees are critical to the success of UW-Stout programs and offices.
Explore the performing arts on our campus. These groups provide a creative outlet to students wishing to further refine and explore their artistic talents. The band, choir and theatre programs are part of academic offerings at Stout. Performing arts draw people together and allow them to relate in meaningful and enduring ways.
