The following are the responses from the program director, department chair, and dean’s responses to the program review report for M.S. in Industrial/Technology Education.

The following response was submitted by the Program Director

Action Item 1

The M.S. in Industrial/Technology Education program director will work with the B.S. in Technology Education program director during the summer of 2004 to write reports for the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction site visit scheduled for Fall 2004.  Materials for the site visit will be selected and assembled at that time.

Action Item 2

The School of Education successfully hired a new Technology Education faculty member to start Fall 2004.  Dean Jax of the School of Education has assured the Technology Education faculty that the unfilled Technology Education position that currently exists will be a priority position to be filled next fiscal year.

Action Item 3

An on-campus M.S. Industrial/Technology Education program advisory committee will be established during Fall 2004 to supplement input that is already being gathered from external stakeholders through several other means as outlined in the self-study report.

The following response was submitted by the Chair

Dr. Joe Busby has been hired as an Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2004.  He will teach courses in TECED and supervise technology education students.  With this hire, all of the on-campus TECED courses and supervision will be taught by full-time faculty.  Some adjunct student teaching supervisors will be needed for the spring semester due to the increased number of spring student teachers.  Regular faculty are also assigned to teach the 700 level TECED courses taught in the summer.

Action Item 1

The program director for the M.S. Industrial/Technology Education degree and the B.S. Technology Education program director were both given resources during the summer of 2004 to work collaboratively in developing and implementing a plan for meeting PI 34 requirements.

Action Item 2

A technology education faculty member was hired in 2004.  He will begin his assignment Fall 2004.  The School of Education will search for another technology education faculty position during the 2004-05 academic year if the need is there.

The program director has made plans to establish an on-campus advisory committee Fall 2004.
