Catalog Course Description

INMGT-300, Engineering Economy, 2-3 Credits. Source and application of funds: cost control, valuation, depreciation, replacement theory and taxation. Prerequisite: INMGT-200 Production/Operations Management or consent of instructor.

Course Goals

Upon completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  1. Use simple and compound interest for analyzing and comparing characteristics between alternatives to assist in making management decisions.
  2. Utilize depreciation expenses in engineering economy reports showing the influence on income taxes.
  3. Understand the basic concepts of sensitivity analysis as it relates to engineering economy.
  4. Analyze and solve engineering economy problems.
