LEHMAN TAKES TWO EVENTS AS BLUE DEVILS SECOND AT FIRST OUTDOOR
ATLANTA, Ga. - Jason Lehman (Sr, Bruce) won two events and placed second in another to lead the UW-Stout men's track and field team to a second place finish at the 20-team Emory, Ga, Division III Spring Break Invitational Saturday, March 21 in Atlanta, Ga.
Lehman outclassed the field in the hammer throw and discus, recording a toss of 155-feet, 7-inches in the hammer, more than 16-feet better than second second place teammate Corey McDonnell (Sr, Chippewa Falls), who threw 139-feet, and a 157-10 in the discus, more than 14 feet over the runner-up.
Lehman finished a respectable second in the shot put, recording a toss of 51-feet. All three throws were NCAA Division III provisional qualifying distances.
Paul Gilles (Sr, Plum City) was first in the 3000-meter steeplechase (9:35.75).
Joe Verstegen (Sr, Little Chute) tied for first in a field of 60 runners in the 200-meter dash (23.04), finishing in a dead-heat with Brian Rydzinski of Anderson.
Jamie Buchholtz (Fr, Bloomer) was second in the pole vault (14-5.25).
Anderson won the meet with 89 points, with Stout placing second with 83 points.
The Blue Devil men return to action Saturday, April 4 when they host the UW-Stout Outdoor Invitational at 11 a.m. at Nelson Field. The Blue Devil women will be at Emory Saturday, March 28, and will co-host the UW-Stout Outdoor Invitational.

ANGIE ARENS, BRENNA JONES AT NATIONALS SATURDAY
MENOMONIE - UW-Stout's Angie Arens (Fr, Loretta, Minn) and Brenna Jones (Fr, St. Paul, Minn) will conclude the 1998 gymnastics season when they compete at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) Championships Saturday, March 28 at Rhode Island College in Providence, R.I.
Arens will compete on vault, while Jones will compete on the floor exercise. On the season, Arens averaged an 8.49 on the vault and Jones averaged a 9.04 on the floor. Jones also scored a 9.30 midway through the season to tie a school record.

BASEBALL RETURNS TO ACTION FRIDAY AT METRODOME
MENOMONIE - The UW-Stout baseball team returns to action Friday, March 27 when they travel to the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome for a doubleheader with Mayville State beginning at 11 a.m.
The Blue Devils are currently 7-7 and will open up the outdoor schedule Sunday, April 5 when they host Augsburg College at 1 p.m. at Nelson Field.

Softball
SIMPSON TOURNEY CANCELLED; STOUT TO PLAY INSIDE THURSDAY, FRIDAY
MENOMONIE - After a week off due to the cancellation of the Simpson University Tournament, the UW-Stout softball team returns to action when they participate in the Concordia-St. Paul, Minn, Tournament, March 26-27.
The tournament will be played at the Inside Sports Dome in St. Paul, Minn. Stout is scheduled to to meet Bemidji State, Thursday, March 26 at 10:30 a.m., then follow that up with a 3 p.m. contest with Coe College. On Friday, March 27, the Blue Devils (3-7) play the late games, facing off against Mayville State at 4:30 p.m. and host Concordia at 6 p.m.
The Simpson Tournament scheduled for March 20-21 was cancelled due to heavy snows in the Des Moines, Iowa, area.
The Blue Devils will host the UW-Stout Tournament April 3-4 at Wakanda Park.
