Jacobson finished sixth in a time of 18:48, while Olsen finished 12th in a time of 19:02 on a rainy, sloppy, cold afternoon. Blue Devil coach Carlene Hochhalter said both of her runners got out quickly and them moved up in the pack. Jacobson set the pace for the two, Hochhalter said. "Katie Jacobson set the pace," Hochhalter said. "and she pulled Katy Olsen along with the group. Katie usually doesn't get out as quickly in the first mile as she did today. "Jacobson has just kept getting stronger in the last couple of meets." Olsen ran a strong race, Hochhalter said, despite running on an injured knee. This is the first All-America award for both athletes, who both qualified to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships last spring. UW-Oshkosh's Tiffany Speckman won the race in 18:29, while UW-Superior's Sarah Anderson was second. Cortland-SUNY won the team title, with UW-Eau Claire second and UW-Oshkosh fourth.
