Pause Refresh was created out of a realization that we, as Americans, typically leave about 429 million paid vacation days on the table each year. Based on this statistic, we can see there is a serious problem with how we view paid vacations. Many of us are not using all of our vacation days, not because we don’t need it, but because we are afraid of the work that we will come back to. The United States is also the only industrialized nation that does not require a minimum amount of paid vacation days for its workers. The effects of this anti-vacation culture end up costing us in many ways. That’s why, after thinking long and hard about this issue, we decided to startd Pause Refresh as a way to start a vacation revolution. By doing this, we can educate Americans on the numerous benefits of taking time away from the office. These benefits are not only for those taking the vacations, but also for the workplace and economy. If we are successful, Americans will be happier, healthier, more productive, and engaged in their work.
